These figures are estimates based on typical 2026 UK business energy rates. Your actual costs will depend on your supplier, contract terms, and usage patterns. CCL rate: 0.801p/kWh (from April 2026).

Energy Usage Cost: Your annual consumption in kWh multiplied by the unit rate (pence per kWh). This is the largest component of your bill.

Standing Charge: A fixed daily charge from your supplier, regardless of how much energy you use. Covers the cost of maintaining your connection to the grid.

Climate Change Levy (CCL): A UK government tax on business energy consumption. From April 2026, the rate is 0.801p per kWh for both gas and electricity. Domestic consumers and some charities are exempt.

VAT: Most businesses pay 20% VAT on energy. Charities and businesses with very low energy usage (below the "de minimis" threshold) may qualify for the reduced 5% rate.

Sector Benchmarks: In estimate mode, we adjust the midpoint usage based on your industry. Restaurants and manufacturing businesses typically use more energy than offices of the same size.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or any other debt secured on it.

If you are thinking of consolidating existing borrowing you should be aware that you may be extending the terms of the debt and increasing the total amount you repay.
